Real Estate Solicitor | NQ - 2 year PQE | Hybrid working | Diverse Matters

York & Hull | Hybrid Working | £38,000–£48,000 DOE

Qualified recently and wondering whether your first move is as important as your first qualification?

The truth is, not all NQ opportunities are created equal. Some will have you specialising from day one. Others will hand you a narrow caseload and expect you to find your feet alone.

QED Legal's client is offering something different.

They're looking to appoint an ambitious Commercial Property Solicitor to join a growing Real Estate team where you'll build experience across a genuinely broad range of property matters. From commercial property acquisitions and disposals through to development land, commercial landlord and tenant work and agricultural property, this is an opportunity to develop into a well‑rounded property lawyer rather than being confined to one niche.

You'll work alongside experienced real estate specialists who are keen to invest in junior lawyers, giving you exposure to complex transactions while gradually developing your own client base and technical expertise.

Your work is likely to include:

  • Advising on commercial property acquisitions and disposals, including freehold and leasehold transactions.
  • Assisting with commercial leases, licences and wider landlord and tenant matters.
  • Supporting on development land projects, strategic land transactions and planning‑related property work.
  • Working on agricultural and rural property matters alongside experienced colleagues.
  • Assisting with larger investment and portfolio transactions as your experience develops.
  • Building trusted relationships with clients, agents and other professional advisers.
  • Delivering commercially focused advice with a high standard of client care.

To be considered, you'll ideally have:

  • Qualified Solicitor (NQ–2 years PQE).
  • Experience in Commercial Property, Real Estate, Property Law or Commercial Conveyancing, whether gained during your training contract or since qualification.
  • Exposure to commercial leases, landlord and tenant, development land or agricultural property work would be advantageous, although experience across every area isn't expected.
  • Excellent drafting, communication and organisational skills.
  • A commercial approach to problem‑solving and client service.
  • The confidence to work both independently and collaboratively within an established team.
  • A genuine interest in building a long‑term career in Commercial Property and Real Estate.

This opportunity would suit a Commercial Property Solicitor, Real Estate Solicitor, Property Solicitor or Newly Qualified Solicitor looking to build a career with greater variety than a traditional property role can often offer.

The quality of work is there. The support is there. Most importantly, so is the opportunity to develop into the kind of property lawyer capable of advising across the full spectrum of commercial real estate, rather than simply becoming known for one type of transaction.

Salary: £38,000–£48,000 DOE, together with hybrid working, excellent long‑term career prospects and a comprehensive benefits package.
