The Role
You’ll be providing clear, practical advice and representing with professionalism and empathy. Your day-to-day will include:
- Advising clients on criminal matters in a straightforward, reassuring way
- Responding quickly and sensitively to client needs
- Handling case paperwork, correspondence, and billing
- Building and managing your own caseload, while introducing clients to other services the firm offers
- Attending police stations and court as a Duty Solicitor
- Keeping up to date with legal developments and ongoing training
- Helping the firm grow through great client care and strong relationships
About You
We’re looking for someone approachable, confident, and committed to delivering a great service. Ideally, you’ll have:
- A current Solicitor’s Practising Certificate
- Duty Solicitor status
- Good experience or knowledge in Criminal Law and Road Traffic Law
- Strong communication skills and a calm, empathetic manner
- A positive, professional approach to teamwork and client care
- Experience working with Counsel and expert witnesses
- A full UK driving licence
This is a supportive firm who looks after their people well. The role will see you travel to courts across Scotland and your Duty work shall be Ayr based. The majority of your work shall be legal aid work but you will have exposure to private client work too. It’s anticipated that you should have a minimum of 2 years experience, be fully conversant with Legal Aid and be someone who is committed to the ongoing success of the business.
