A leading financial services organisation is looking to appoint a commercially focused Legal Counsel to join its established and well-regarded in‑house legal team. The Role: In-House Legal Counsel
As Legal Counsel, you will provide practical, commercial legal advice across a wide range of business‑critical matters, supporting key stakeholders and helping to manage legal and regulatory risk. Key areas of work include:
- Mortgage lending and consumer credit
- Financial services regulation and compliance
- Property‑related legal matters
- Commercial contracts and supplier agreements
- Data protection and privacy
- Corporate and employment law matters
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clear, commercially focused legal advice across the business
- Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts and legal documentation
- Support regulatory compliance and help manage legal and operational risk
- Partner with internal stakeholders to deliver pragmatic legal solutions
- Interpret and explain complex legal and regulatory issues in a business‑friendly way
- Monitor and advise on changes in legislation and regulation affecting financial services
Candidate Profile – You will ideally have:
- Qualification as a Solicitor in England & Wales
- 4+ years’ PQE (applications outside this range are welcome where relevant experience is demonstrated)
- Experience in financial services, particularly mortgage lending and/or consumer credit
- Strong knowledge of financial services regulation
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- A commercial, solutions‑driven mindset
- Experience gained in a reputable law firm and/or a high‑quality in‑house legal team
