I’m working with one of Scotland’s most dynamic law firms of the past few years — a firm with a proven, enviable track record of taking senior hires and building them into genuinely formidable Partners. This is a business that moves with purpose, invests decisively, and knows how to turn ambition into market presence. They are now looking to appoint a Private Client Legal Director or Partner to lead, grow and ultimately define a core practice area within the firm.
Private Client work sits at the heart of this firm’s success. The department already enjoys a strong, consistent pipeline of high-quality instructions and an established, loyal client base. This is not a speculative hire and it is not a “bring us a following and we’ll see” conversation. The work is there, the confidence is there, and the firm is ready to double down. A sophisticated marketing and business development operation will be put behind you, with genuine intent to raise your profile and accelerate growth.
Responsibilities
- You will be given the freedom to build something that is unmistakably yours — shaping the department’s direction, developing the team, influencing firm-wide strategy and deciding what long-term success looks like.
- You will lead, grow and ultimately define a core Private Client practice area within the firm, with autonomy to implement strategy and drive results.
- Whether your strength lies in complex estates, trusts, tax and succession planning, or a broad private client practice, this role is designed to amplify leadership and impact.
Qualifications / Who this will suit
This role will resonate with senior associates or Legal Directors who know they are ready for more and want their next step to actually mean something — as well as Partners who are frustrated by internal politics, limited support or hollow promises elsewhere. The firm has a track record of backing its people and giving them the space to build practices, reputations and legacies that endure.
