Overview

I’m working with a leading Legal 500 national firm that is looking to recruit an NQ–2 years’ PQE employment solicitor to join its respondent-focused employment team. This is a genuinely exciting opportunity for a junior lawyer who wants exposure to high-quality work from day one and the chance to learn properly, not just keep their head down and churn. The role sits alongside a Partner who has brought in exceptional levels of work and continues to grow a thriving practice. Importantly, this is not a “sink or swim” environment. This Partner is known internally for being collaborative, approachable and genuinely invested in developing junior lawyers. You’ll be trusted with responsibility, supported when you need it, and encouraged to build confidence and independence at the right pace.

The work itself is varied, fast-moving and firmly respondent-focused, advising employers on a broad range of employment matters including contentious and non-contentious work. You’ll be involved in real cases, client contact and strategic decision-making early on, rather than being parked in the background. It’s an ideal role for someone who wants to build a strong foundation in employment law while working with people who enjoy what they do. The firm offers the balance many junior lawyers are looking for but don’t always find. The culture is supportive without being soft, ambitious without being cut-throat, and genuinely collegiate across teams and offices. Flexible working is part of the firm’s DNA, and progression is based on development and potential, not just survival. This is a role for an NQ to 2 PQE employment solicitor who is curious, engaged and keen to learn from excellent lawyers in a team that is going places. If you’re looking for a move where you’ll be noticed, supported and given the chance to grow properly, this one is well worth a conversation.

Responsibilities

  • Join a respondent-focused employment team and work on a mix of contentious and non-contentious matters.
  • Engage in real cases, client contact and strategic decision-making from early in the role.
  • Collaborate with a Partner who is collaborative, approachable and invested in developing junior lawyers.
  • Handle high-quality work with appropriate support and supervision to build confidence and independence.

Qualifications

  • Solicitors with NQ to 2 years’ PQE in employment law seeking exposure to high-quality, varied work.
  • Curious, engaged and motivated to learn from experienced colleagues.
