An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Legal Secretary to join the Family Law Department of a well-established and highly respected law firm.
This is a busy and rewarding role supporting experienced Fee Earners, where you'll play a vital part in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the department while delivering an exceptional service to clients.
The Role
Working closely with Fee Earners, you'll provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support, helping to manage files efficiently, maintain excellent client communication and ensure matters progress smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Audio and copy typing of legal correspondence, court documents and other legal documentation with a high degree of accuracy.
- Managing diaries, arranging appointments and preparing files in advance of meetings.
- Opening new client files and maintaining accurate records using the firm's case management system.
- Liaising professionally with clients, courts and third parties via telephone, email and in person.
- Taking detailed messages and dealing with routine client enquiries where appropriate.
- Preparing correspondence, legal documents and engrossments.
- Managing incoming and outgoing post to ensure deadlines are met.
- Retrieving and archiving paper and electronic files.
- Assisting with cheque requests, banking tasks and file administration.
- Providing general administrative support including photocopying, scanning and document preparation.
- Offering holiday and team cover where required and assisting colleagues across the wider business.
About You
We're looking for someone who is highly organised, proactive and thrives in a busy legal environment.
You'll ideally have
- Previous experience working as a Legal Secretary, preferably within a Family Law department.
- Excellent audio typing and document production skills.
- Experience using a legal case management system.
- Outstanding attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Strong communication and client care abilities.
- The ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively under pressure.
- A flexible, positive and team-focused approach.
- Good IT skills and confidence using Microsoft Office.
