Head of Conveyancing and Legal Practice Opportunity – Lead & Grow a Modern ABS Law Firm
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head of Conveyancing and Senior Property Solicitor who has preferably worked at partner level to take ownership of an established residential conveyancing department while playing a key role in shaping the future growth of the business.
You’ll work alongside the firm's Directors to develop strategy, improve operational performance, mentor the team, build a market‑leading conveyancing practice and take responsibility for compliance.
The Role
As Head of Conveyancing, you’ll oversee the day‑to‑day running of the Residential Property department, ensuring exceptional client service, strong financial performance and continued departmental growth.
You’ll be responsible for managing and developing a team of Conveyancing Solicitors, Licensed Conveyancers, Legal Executives, Conveyancing Fee Earners, Paralegals and Legal Assistants while helping to shape the firm's strategic direction.
This is a hands‑on leadership position combining technical expertise, people management and commercial awareness.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Residential Conveyancing department
- Supervise Conveyancing Solicitors, Licensed Conveyancers, CILEX Lawyers, Fee Earners and support staff
- Drive departmental performance, profitability and service excellence
- Oversee a broad range of residential property transactions including:
- Freehold and Leasehold Sales & Purchases
- New Build Property
- Shared Ownership
- Right to Buy
- Remortgages
- Transfer of Equity
- Buy-to-Let
- Help to Buy
- Mentor and develop junior lawyers and conveyancing professionals
- Recruit, train and retain high‑performing team members
- Improve systems, workflows and operational efficiency
- Ensure compliance with SRA regulations, AML requirements and quality standards
- Work closely with the Directors to deliver business growth and departmental strategy
- Build and maintain strong relationships with introducers, estate agents and referrers where appropriate
