If you’re a Corporate & Commercial Solicitor with 3+ years’ PQE and enjoy getting close to the businesses you advise, this is an opportunity to join an established Yorkshire practice where the role can be shaped around your experience.

This isn't a narrowly defined corporate role where you spend your days processing one type of transaction.

The work is genuinely varied, covering corporate transactions, commercial contracts, business structures, partnerships and wider commercial advice. You’ll work directly with business owners, directors and senior stakeholders, helping them navigate both the immediate legal issue and the wider commercial considerations behind it.

On the corporate side, you can expect exposure to matters including:

• Share acquisitions and disposals
• Business sales and purchases
• Shareholder agreements
• Corporate reorganisations and restructures
• Partnership and LLP matters
• Management buy-ins and buy-outs
• Share-for-share exchanges
• Corporate governance and directors' responsibilities
• Corporate finance and funding

The commercial work is equally broad, including commercial contracts, terms and conditions, agency and distribution arrangements, supplier and customer agreements, loan agreements and guarantees, IP matters and general day-to-day commercial advice.

There is also an interesting professional and regulatory element within the wider practice, including advisory and contentious work for professional businesses and individuals facing regulatory or disciplinary issues. Your involvement in this area can be shaped around your existing experience and interests.

The client base is a big part of the attraction.

You’ll act for a diverse range of owner-managed businesses, limited companies, partnerships, sole traders, professional practices and organisations, with matters ranging from ongoing commercial advice through to significant transactions, restructures and ownership changes.

The approach is deliberately practical. The objective isn't simply to give a technically correct legal answer — it’s to understand the client's business, explain the options clearly and provide advice that actually works commercially.

That means this role would suit someone who enjoys client contact and problem-solving and wants to develop relationships rather than simply process work behind the scenes.

You’ll ideally bring:

• 3+ years’ PQE in Corporate & Commercial work, or equivalent experience
• A strong technical grounding across corporate and/or commercial matters
• The ability to manage matters with a good degree of autonomy
• Confidence dealing directly with business owners and senior decision-makers
• Strong communication skills and the ability to make complex issues straightforward
• A practical, commercially minded approach
• An interest in developing your own breadth and expertise within an established team

You don't necessarily need to be equally experienced across every area listed above. The role can be shaped around what you already do well and where you want to develop next.
