Are you an experienced Corporate or Commercial Legal Secretary looking for your next opportunity in York? We are recruiting for a Corporate / Commercial Legal Secretary to join the busy Corporate and Commercial team of a well-established law firm. This position requires someone who already has experience supporting solicitors and fee earners within Corporate and/or Commercial Law and understands the demands of working within a busy transactional legal department.

The Role

  • Working closely with solicitors and other fee earners, you will provide comprehensive secretarial, administrative and organisational support across a varied Corporate and Commercial workload.
  • Your responsibilities will include:
    • Providing high-quality secretarial and administrative support to Corporate and Commercial fee earners
    • Preparing, formatting and amending legal correspondence, agreements and other documentation
    • Assisting with the production and collation of transaction documents
    • Managing diaries, meetings, appointments and key deadlines
    • Opening, maintaining and closing client and matter files
    • Liaising professionally with clients, solicitors and other external parties
    • Handling telephone calls, emails and correspondence efficiently
    • Updating the firm's case management system and maintaining accurate records
    • Assisting with document management, electronic filing and matter administration
    • Preparing meeting documentation and supporting fee earners with transaction-related administration
    • Managing competing priorities and ensuring deadlines are met
    • Providing wider administrative support to the Corporate and Commercial team as required
    • Maintaining strict confidentiality and a consistently high standard of accuracy

About You

  • Previous experience supporting fee earners within Corporate and/or Commercial Law is essential for this position.
  • You may currently be working as a Corporate Legal Secretary, Commercial Legal Secretary, Corporate Legal Assistant or experienced Legal PA supporting lawyers within this practice area.
  • You will also need:
    • Strong legal secretarial and administrative skills
    • A good understanding of working within a Corporate and/or Commercial legal department
    • Excellent document production and formatting skills
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Confidence dealing with clients and professional contacts
    • The ability to manage a busy workload and competing deadlines
    • Strong Microsoft Office and case management system skills
    • A professional, proactive and highly organised approach
    • The ability to work collaboratively within a busy legal team
