This is a senior opportunity for a solicitor who combines strong technical expertise with proven leadership ability and a commercial approach to building a successful practice. The role also offers the potential to become a Partner.
The role
You’ll take responsibility for the day-to-day management and strategic development of the Private Client department, balancing your own fee-earning work with leadership, supervision and business development.
Your responsibilities will include:

- Handling a varied caseload covering Wills, Probate, Trusts, Powers of Attorney and Deputyship.
- Supervising and supporting junior lawyers and other team members.
- Setting and delivering departmental targets and strategic growth plans.
- Developing new business opportunities and strengthening existing client relationships.
- Building professional networks, raising the profile of the department and contributing to the firm’s marketing activities.
- Managing workflows, financial performance, billing and compliance.
- Working with colleagues across the firm to encourage cross-referrals and deliver a high standard of client service.
About you
The firm is looking for a qualified solicitor with at least 8 years’ PQE and extensive experience across Private Client law.
You’ll ideally have previous team management or leadership experience, together with the ability to develop and implement strategic plans, manage performance and identify opportunities for growth.
You’ll also bring:
- Excellent technical knowledge across the full range of Private Client matters.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
- A proactive and commercially minded approach to business development.
- The ability to build trusted relationships with clients, colleagues and professional contacts.
- Confidence managing your own caseload independently while supporting and developing others.
STEP membership and Deputy Panel membership would be advantageous, as would a proven track record in marketing and business development.
What’s on offer?
- A senior leadership position with responsibility for shaping the department.
- The opportunity to develop and grow an established Private Client practice.
- Potential progression to Partner.
- A varied fee-earning caseload alongside strategic and management responsibilities.
- The opportunity to build on existing client relationships and develop new business.
- A supportive working environment with scope for professional and career development.
