Are you looking to develop your career in legal accounts and finance? We are recruiting a Junior Legal Cashier to join the Accounts team of a well-established law firm. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with some legal cashier experience, or an individual already working within a law firm who is keen to move into a legal finance role. You’ll join a friendly and supportive team and gain hands-on experience across a broad range of legal cashiering and accounts duties.
The Role
Working as part of the firm’s Accounts team, you will help ensure the accurate and efficient processing of financial transactions while supporting colleagues across the wider business. Your responsibilities will include:
- Completing daily bank reconciliations
- Processing a high volume of electronic payments and transfers
- Posting bills and financial transactions accurately
- Processing expenses and payments
- Making payments to search providers, brokers and indemnity insurance providers
- Raising and banking cheques
- Handling petty cash
- Responding to general accounts and finance queries
- Maintaining accurate financial records
- Supporting the wider Legal Accounts team with day-to-day cashiering duties
About You
We would particularly like to hear from candidates with some previous Legal Cashier or legal accounts experience. However, applications are also welcomed from people currently working within a law firm or legal environment who have experience using a case management system and would like to develop their career within legal finance. You will ideally have:
- Some experience within legal cashiering, legal accounts or a law firm environment
- An understanding of the SRA Accounts Rules, although further development can be provided
- Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
- Experience using accounting software and/or legal case management systems
- Good organisational and time-management skills
- The confidence to work independently while contributing to a supportive team
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships across the firm
This could be a particularly good opportunity for a Legal Accounts Assistant, Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, Legal Administrator or Legal Cashier Assistant looking to take the next step into a dedicated legal cashiering position.
