I’m working with a full-service law firm in Newcastle looking for someone to join its Risk & Compliance team.
This could be a really interesting move if you’ve already been involved in client onboarding, ID checks or opening matters, and would like to build your career in compliance.
The role sits at the heart of the firm’s onboarding process. You’ll help make sure the right checks are completed, information is recorded accurately and lawyers can get new matters moving.
The Role
Carrying out client due diligence, ID and AML checks in line with the firm’s procedures
Obtaining and reviewing the information needed to onboard clients
Keeping in touch with partners, solicitors and support teams about the progress of new matters
Spotting gaps or concerns with client information and escalating them to the Head of Risk and Compliance
Giving compliance approval once due diligence is complete, and recording this on the firm’s practice management system
You’ll also manage queries through the Compliance mailbox, keep an eye on ongoing monitoring alerts and help make sure the firm’s processes are followed consistently.
About you?
- You’re a paralegal or legal assistant looking to move into compliance
- You’ve had some exposure to client onboarding, AML, ID checks or file opening
- You’re confident using a case management system
- You’re organised, detail-focused and comfortable working to deadlines
- You can communicate clearly with clients and colleagues, and know when something needs to be escalated
Already working in legal compliance? That would be a bonus too.
