The Role
As a Decorating Estimator / Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for supporting the commercial and estimating functions of the business. Your duties will include:
- Preparing accurate estimates and tender submissions for decorating and refurbishment projects, including materials, labour and subcontractor costs.
- Managing commercial aspects of projects from pre-contract through to completion, including cost monitoring, valuations, variations and forecasting.
- Liaising closely with contracts managers, site teams and clients to ensure budgetary, programme and quality targets are achieved.
- Carrying out both office-based tasks (estimates, reports, payments, cost analysis) and site-based activities (site visits, scope verification, liaising with project teams).
- Contributing to the development and improvement of estimating systems, cost databases and wider commercial processes.
About You
We are looking for an individual who can bring professionalism, accuracy and drive to the role. You will ideally:
- Have previous experience in estimating and/or quantity surveying within construction, refurbishment or decorating environments.
- Be confident working both in the office and on site.
- Possess strong analytical and numerical capability, with the ability to develop accurate cost models and manage commercial aspects effectively.
- Be proficient with technology and able to communicate complex information clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills, working collaboratively with site teams, subcontractors and clients.
- Be proactive, organised and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Hold or be working toward a professional qualification (RICS, CIOB or equivalent), or have proven practical experience in construction estimating.
