QContact is a cloud contact centre platform helping organisations deliver exceptional customer experiences through voice, digital channels, workforce management, AI, and automation. As our platform continues to grow, we're looking for a skilled Kubernetes System Administrator to help build, maintain, and scale the infrastructure that powers our services.
As a Kubernetes System Administrator, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation, reliability, security, and performance of our Kubernetes environments. You will work closely with software engineers and support teams to ensure our services remain highly available, secure, and scalable.
This is a technical role - you should actually understand how Kubernetes works, how to create deployments, ingresses, services and scaling. You will also be responsible for the underlying infrastructure hosted in Azure, so you should have good Linux skills. Any interview will include a technical assessment, so please don't put yourself forward for the role if you do not have confidence in Kubernetes and Linux administration.
You'll play a key role in managing production-grade Kubernetes clusters, troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues, automating operational tasks, and improving platform observability and resilience. Core Kubernetes administration skills typically include cluster architecture, networking, storage, workload management, security, and troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities- Administer and maintain Kubernetes clusters in production environments.
- Monitor cluster health, performance, and capacity.
- Manage deployments, upgrades, and lifecycle maintenance.
- Configure and maintain networking, ingress, DNS, and service discovery.
- Manage persistent storage and backup strategies.
- Implement and maintain RBAC, security policies, and cluster hardening.
- Automate operational processes using Infrastructure as Code.
- Troubleshoot application, cluster, networking, and node-level issues.
- Support CI/CD pipelines and containerised application deployments.
- Work with development teams to improve reliability, scalability, and observability.
- Participate in incident response and on-call rotations.
- 3+ years administering Linux-based systems.
- 2+ years hands-on experience managing Kubernetes clusters in production.
- Experience with container technologies such as Docker.
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, or OpenTelemetry (we use Datadog).
- Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python, or similar).
- You must reside in the UK - this is a permanent PAYE role.
- You must have a good level of English and be able to hold a conversation in English.
- The unrestricted right to work in the UK without sponsorship or visa.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Experience with Helm.
- Experience with PostgreSQL, Redis and Elasticsearch.
- Terraform or other Infrastructure-as-Code tools.
- Knowledge of service meshes and cloud-native networking.
- Experience supporting high-availability SaaS platforms.
- Salary £50,000 - £60,000 depending on experience.
- 25 days of annual leave (plus bank holidays).
- Fully remote working - no hybrid / no office visits required.
- Opportunity to work with modern cloud-native technologies.
- Professional development and certification support.
- A collaborative, engineering-focused culture.
- The chance to help shape the infrastructure powering a growing contact centre platform.
