Physical Security Installation & Service Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Physical Security Installation & Service Engineer to join our team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of a range of electronic security systems across customer sites.

This role requires strong technical knowledge of access control, CCTV, and integrated security solutions, with experience working on enterprise-level platforms.

The engineer will be responsible for delivering high-quality installations, fault finding, preventative maintenance, and reactive support to ensure customer security systems remain operational.

The role will include participation in an on-call/call-out rota, providing out-of-hours support when required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, commission, and maintain physical security systems including access control, CCTV, and integrated security solutions.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive repairs, and fault diagnostics.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for customer systems.

β€’ Configure and support enterprise access control platforms including

  • Genetec Security Center
  • Honeywell Pro-Watch
  • Perform system upgrades, migrations, integrations, and hardware replacements.
  • Diagnose faults across controllers, readers, locking hardware, networks, and associated security devices.
  • Liaise with customers, project teams, and third-party suppliers to resolve technical issues.
  • Complete accurate service reports, documentation, and system handover information.
  • Maintain a high standard of customer service and professionalism at all times.
  • Participate in an out-of-hours call-out rota.
  • Required Experience & Skills
  • Proven experience as a Physical Security Engineer, Access Control Engineer, or similar role.
  • Strong background in the installation and servicing of electronic security systems.

β€’ Experience with enterprise access control systems such as

  • Pro-Watch
  • Knowledge of access control hardware, including controllers, readers, door hardware, and locking solutions.
  • Experience fault finding on IP-based security systems and networked devices.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and system documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable Qualifications / Experience

  • Experience with CCTV systems and video management platforms.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, switches, VLANs).
  • Experience working on large commercial, corporate, or critical infrastructure sites.
  • Manufacturer training or certifications in relevant security platforms.
  • Experience with system integrations and database/server environments.
