Working across a broad spectrum of energy and infrastructure matters, the team combines expertise in real estate, construction, planning, finance and regulation to deliver commercially focused advice on some of the sector's most innovative projects.

The Opportunity

  • Advising clients across the energy transition sector, with a particular focus on energy infrastructure connected to the built environment.
  • Supporting developers, landlords and operators on the procurement, negotiation and operation of heat network arrangements.
  • Advising on renewable energy projects including solar, wind and battery storage developments.
  • Working on large-scale retrofit and decarbonisation programmes, including grant-funded and subscription-based delivery models.
  • Providing advice on electricity and heat network regulatory matters.
  • Advising on utility connections, including ICP and IDNO arrangements.
  • Supporting clients on Power Purchase Agreements, Heat Supply Agreements and related commercial arrangements.
  • Advising on EV charging infrastructure and associated energy projects.
  • Collaborating closely with colleagues across construction, planning, real estate, banking and corporate teams.
  • Building strong client relationships and contributing to business development initiatives within the energy sector.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Qualified solicitor with at least 4 years' PQE gained within private practice or an in-house legal environment.
  • Experience advising on energy, utilities or infrastructure-related matters.
  • Knowledge of regulatory issues affecting electricity, heat networks or wider utility projects.
  • Exposure to renewable energy projects, energy infrastructure or sustainability-focused developments.
  • Strong technical drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Commercially aware with the ability to deliver practical and strategic legal advice.
  • Excellent client management and relationship-building abilities.
  • Able to manage competing priorities while maintaining a high standard of work.
  • Enthusiastic about the evolving energy market and the opportunities created by the transition to net zero.
