Our client is an established full-service law firm with an Employment practice advising across both contentious and non-contentious work.
The Reading team acts for a number of well-known employers, with a significant proportion of its clients in the technology and education sectors.
The work is varied, covering capability and conduct concerns, redundancy, TUPE and whistleblowing alongside Employment Tribunal litigation, settlement negotiations and trade union law.
The team also advises employers, HR teams and senior executives, giving lawyers exposure to a broad and interesting employment practice.
The Opportunity
- Advise employers and senior executives across a varied employment law caseload.
- Handle both contentious and non-contentious matters involving capability and conduct, redundancy, TUPE and whistleblowing.
- Bring and defend Employment Tribunal proceedings and advise clients throughout the litigation process.
- Negotiate settlements and advise on the resolution of workplace disputes.
- Provide advice on trade union law and wider employer and HR issues.
- Work with education sector clients, including independent schools, on matters involving parent complaints and disputes, regulatory issues and SEND Tribunal proceedings.
- Work alongside Employment partners in Reading and colleagues across the firm's other offices.
- Take a visible role in business development and contribute to the wider profile of the practice.
- The Ideal Candidate
- A qualified solicitor with 5-8 years' PQE and specialist Employment law experience.
- A track record of advising employers and handling senior executive matters.
- Experience across both contentious and non-contentious employment work.
- Confident handling Employment Tribunal litigation, settlements and complex workplace matters.
- Experience advising on redundancy, TUPE, whistleblowing and trade union issues.
- Previous experience within the education sector, including work for independent schools, would be particularly relevant.
- Business development experience and an interest in building their profile within the market.
