Want to get closer to the projects shaping the built environment? Our client is an established UK and international law firm with a specialist Projects, Development & Construction practice advising on construction and development matters from the earliest stages.
The team has particular experience across real estate, housing and accommodation, property investment, education, healthcare, sustainability and renewables. Its lawyers advise on procurement and contracting strategies, construction and development documentation and the allocation of project risk, with work ranging from regeneration schemes and commercial developments to energy, healthcare, hotels and infrastructure projects.
The Opportunity
- Join the London non-contentious construction team, advising on a broad range of construction, development and infrastructure matters.
- Work with clients including property owners and investors, developers, funders, contractors, specialist sub-contractors, suppliers and construction and design consultants.
- Advise on procurement and contracting strategies from the outset of projects.
- Draft and negotiate construction, development and project documentation.
- Work with standard form and bespoke contracts, including JCT, NEC and EPC forms and associated amendments.
- Gain experience across regeneration schemes, accommodation projects, energy and renewables, healthcare, hotels and infrastructure.
- Advise on contractual and commercial issues arising during live projects, helping clients understand risk, rights and responsibilities.
- Become involved in larger due diligence exercises and development arrangements with appropriate supervision.
- Contribute to know-how and business development as your experience develops.
The Ideal Candidate
- A newly qualified solicitor or Associate with up to 2 years' PQE.
- Previous experience within a construction team or housing practice.
- Experience of non-contentious construction law and standard form construction contracts.
- Some exposure to commercial and/or housing development work.
- A working knowledge of construction contracts and appointments, ideally including JCT, NEC and EPC forms.
- Interested in developing experience of bespoke and more complex agreements, large-scale due diligence and development arrangements.
- Keen to build their knowledge of the construction and development sector and become involved in business development.
