THE ROLE
- Join a market-leading Planning & Infrastructure Consenting team working nationally across the South, Northern and Scottish markets.
- Advise on nationally significant infrastructure projects, with a strong focus on energy, transport, water and marine sectors.
- Lead on DCOs, Transport and Works Act Orders and marine licences, acting for a diverse client base including both developers and objectors.
- Shape and implement land assembly strategies including compulsory acquisition and compensation advice.
- Deliver strategic input at every stage of a project – from route selection and optioneering to consultation, application drafting and legal examinations.
- Review and assess key documentation including environmental statements and technical reports.
- Draft legislation, contribute to hybrid Bill work and advise on a range of public law and statutory powers issues.
- Support clients through public inquiries and complex examination processes, with the confidence to handle high levels of responsibility.
REQUIREMENTS
- A UK-qualified planning/infrastructure lawyer with 4+ years’ PQE and experience in consenting major infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of the political, regulatory and environmental issues impacting the UK infrastructure space including climate-related reforms like BNG.
- Comfortable advising on complex legislative frameworks including powers, statutory procedures and project consents.
- Demonstrated ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, from government bodies to private sector clients.
- Confident in managing competing priorities, staying calm under pressure and delivering exceptional legal service.
- Able to draft and negotiate clear, commercial and legally robust documents that reflect the strategic needs of clients.
- Passionate about the energy and transport sectors, particularly their evolving role in climate adaptation and sustainability.
- Naturally collaborative, with a strong sense of ownership, curiosity and commitment to personal and team development.
