As investment in infrastructure, energy and major development projects continues to grow, planning plays an increasingly important role in bringing complex schemes to life. Our client is recognised for advising developers, infrastructure providers, energy companies, utilities, local authorities and public sector organisations on some of the UK's most significant planning matters. With particular expertise in infrastructure planning and Development Consent Orders (DCOs), the Leeds and Manchester teams work closely with specialists across Real Estate, Construction, Environment and Corporate to deliver coordinated advice on complex developments. This appointment offers an established Partner the opportunity to contribute to the continued growth of a highly regarded Planning practice.

The Opportunity

  • Lead on complex planning matters with a particular emphasis on infrastructure and energy projects.
  • Advise clients throughout the planning process, including Development Consent Orders (DCOs), planning applications, appeals and wider regulatory matters.
  • Act for developers, utilities, energy companies, investors, local authorities and public sector bodies on nationally and regionally significant projects.
  • Work on a broad range of developments spanning renewable energy, transport, regeneration and strategic infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Real Estate, Construction, Environment and Corporate on large-scale, multi-disciplinary mandates.
  • Play a prominent role in business development, strengthening existing client relationships while expanding the practice across the Northern market.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and strategic direction to a talented and growing planning team.

The Ideal Candidate

  • An established Planning Partner with recognised expertise in infrastructure and energy.
  • Extensive experience advising on Development Consent Orders (DCOs) and major planning matters.
  • A proven track record acting for developers, infrastructure providers, energy businesses, investors or public sector organisations.
  • An outward-facing practitioner with a strong profile and an established network within the planning and development sector.
  • Commercially astute with the ability to lead complex, high-value client mandates.
  • A natural relationship builder with a genuine enthusiasm for business development and practice growth.
  • An inspiring leader who enjoys developing talented lawyers and contributing to a collaborative team environment.
