The purpose of this role is to provide efficient and timely administrative and technical support to the Underwriting team, ensuring exceptional customer service and resolution of enquiries from Brokers/partners. The role involves assisting underwriters with policy administration, underwriting new business and renewals within set guidelines and service standards, and contributing to the achievement of business objectives.

We have an Underwriting Assistant role joining our Financial Lines team, in our London office, 30 Fenchurch Street.

As an Underwriting Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing technical and administrative support to our underwriting team. Your responsibilities will include ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, maintaining accurate underwriting data, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the underwriting process.

Your new role

  • Assisting our Underwriters by providing information and support to allow them to negotiate rates, terms, and conditions for new and existing business.
  • Building and developing strong relationships with your stakeholders, including Underwriters and other members of the wider team.
  • Being aware of the annual business plan and its context so that you can make decisions and prioritise appropriately.
  • Positively promote the department, division, and company to maximise brand leverage.
  • Adhere to underwriting standards, legal requirements and good practice to minimise risk and maximise efficiency.
  • Keep abreast of market trends and demonstrate market cycle awareness

About you:

  • Excellent organisation skills with the ability to work to deadlines.
  • Good at analysing data and intermediate skills using Excel.
  • A team player with great communication skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • The desire to learn and grow in your new role.
  • Experience in or knowledge of insurance or in another regulated environment would be great but it’s not essential!
