Your new role

You’ll manage a dedicated portfolio of complex and high value solicitors professional indemnity claims from start to finish. Additionally, you'll support the Assistant Claims Manager by mentoring junior Claims Adjusters and interns, helping them grow their technical skills. The role will predominantly focus on solicitors claims but if desired, there will be opportunities to handle other PI claims. Cyber experience is preferred but not essential. Having the right to work in the UK is a requirement for this role. QBE may consider sponsorship at its discretion.

Main responsibilities

  • Investigate, manage and resolve complex and high value Financial and Specialty Markets claims efficiently and in a timely manner in accordance with policy terms and conditions in line with QBE Claims Philosophy.
  • Support the implementation of the Claims strategy to enable delivery of overall business targets.
  • Identify and investigate coverage issues to ensure that the company’s liability is in line with its contractual commitments.
  • Identify subrogation, contribution and other recovery issues and ensure that these are successfully pursued where appropriate.
  • Manage disputed Claims and other material Claims issues in order to resolve and settle claims on an economic basis.
  • Support the development of relationships with internal stakeholders and external customers to enable the Claims function to fully support their needs.
  • Manage external legal providers, analyse coverage and defence reports and be prepared to challenge advice to enable crucial decisions on claims strategy.

About you

  • Experience in handling professional indemnity solicitors claims at an insurance company, adjuster, broker or law firm.
  • Excellent organisational, investigation, analytical and negotiation skills.
  • Great communication skills including experience of presenting.
  • Enthusiasm for change and continued development.
  • The ability to mentor and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Professionalism and understanding of regulatory and statutory standards and requirements.
  • IT skills, including experience with MS Office and London Market claims systems.
