We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Claims Professional to join our Marine & Energy team in London as an Assistant Claims Manager. In this role, you will enhance your skills and knowledge by managing a diverse portfolio of claims, including Protection and Indemnity and Marine Liabilities. Additionally, you will provide management and support to your wider team across multiple locations.

Your new role:

  • Ensure that the team follow processes and procedures to ensure compliance with both statutory and corporate service standards and statutory regulations.
  • Maintain efficient handling of own caseload (mainly high value marine liability and Protection and Indemnity claims) to ensure the prompt, timely and effective handling of Claims.
  • Provide superb customer service combined with technical excellence and develop relationships to meet customer needs.
  • Resolve customer service issues to ensure their prompt and timely resolution.
  • Work with the Claims team to build and maintain relationships which support the acquisition and retention of profitable business, including having oversight of broker relationship management.
  • Produce monthly reports and any ad hoc reporting on existing and new Claims to identify actions for Underwriters. Ensure the accurate reporting of monthly reserving positions.
  • Interrogate and monitor reports as and when produced to ensure accuracy and quality of data.
  • Supervise a team of Claims staff to ensure the overall output and quality of the service provided by the team is within specified service levels.
  • Support the continuing personal and professional development of all team members through the PMP and PDP process, including identifying any training needs.

About you:

  • Good understanding of insurance and reinsurance specifically, but not limited to marine liability.
  • Preferably ACII or legally qualified.
  • Knowledge of MI creation techniques and software; creation of reports.
  • Ability to manage time effectively whilst having strong planning and organisational capabilities.
  • Keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in building and maintaining relationships with strong influencing skills.
