The Opportunity
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Underwriter to join our Professional Indemnity team in London.
The role will focus on our Solicitor PI vertical.
This is an opportunity to play a key role in the profitable growth and development of a well-established PI portfolio, working with leading brokers and clients across the London Market.
You’ll be responsible for underwriting complex Professional Indemnity risks, developing strong broker relationships, and contributing to underwriting strategy and portfolio performance.
This is a highly visible market-facing role, offering the opportunity to shape underwriting outcomes, influence business growth, and further enhance your market profile.
Having the right to work in the UK is a requirement for this role.

- Your new role
- Underwrite Solicitor Professional Indemnity risks in line with underwriting appetite, authority levels, and business objectives.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients, and key market stakeholders.
- Drive profitable new business growth while maintaining high retention of existing accounts.
- Assess complex risks, negotiate terms, and make sound underwriting decisions balancing risk and reward.
- Monitor and manage portfolio performance, identifying opportunities to improve profitability and growth.
- Contribute to underwriting strategy, product development, and portfolio reviews.
- Act as a technical referral point within the team, sharing expertise and market insight.
- Ensure compliance with underwriting standards, governance, and regulatory requirements.
About You
- Proven Solicitor PI underwriting experience gained within the London Market or commercial insurance sector.
- Clear technical knowledge of Professional Indemnity products, wordings, and market dynamics.
- Demonstrable experience underwriting complex risks and managing broker relationships.
- Commercially minded, with strong negotiation and decision‑making skills.
- Clear analytical skills, using data and insight to support underwriting decisions.
- A collaborative and proactive approach, with a passion for developing both people and portfolios.
