Role Overview
We currently have an opportunity for an Underwriter to join our growing D&F Property London based team.
This is a full time, employee position based in London with hybrid working flexibility.
Responsibilities
- Underwrite Direct & Facultative Property risks, including complex, international and specialty business.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, brokers, and colleagues to support business goals.
- Develop strategic relationships in line with the Business Plan to facilitate objective achievement.
- Ensure compliance with insurance strategy to mitigate risk and meet business plan targets.
- Shape and develop strategy, knowledge, and best practices within the team.
- Maintain underwriting standards, instructions and best practices to minimise risk and improve efficiency.
- Stay updated on market dynamics and demonstrate market cycle awareness.
- Mentor and develop the team, demonstrating good leadership behaviours and managerial best practice.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience within Property Underwriting, especially international or US exposure.
- Deep technical understanding of Property wordings, structures and programme design.
- Commercial acumen to identify key profit drivers and maximise long‑term shareholder value.
- Intermediate proficiency in relevant software, including Excel and departmental tools.
- Excellent organisational, prioritisation and interpersonal skills.
