The predicted salary is between 43200 - 72000 ÂŁ per year.

The purpose of this role is to oversee and support the Underwriting Operations teams, to ensure they are working in line with the business plan and delegated authority. This involves ensuring high standards of service delivery, identifying opportunities for improvement, and assisting team members in achieving their personal and professional development goals.

In this role, you’ll lead and develop a team of Underwriting Assistants, managing workflow and supporting our Underwriters to deliver efficient, high-quality service to our customers.

Your new role

  • Lead and support a team of Underwriting Assistants, ensuring people, processes, and resources align with business needs.
  • Conduct regular performance and development reviews, setting clear objectives and addressing performance effectively.
  • Manage team capacity and workflow to meet SLAs and compliance standards.
  • Drive and embed change initiatives in collaboration with underwriting, operations, IT, and change teams.
  • Perform monthly audits and quality checks to uphold underwriting and operational standards.
  • Ensure full compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee allocated underwriting schemes, resolving issues to maintain process effectiveness.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, encouraging inclusive and collaborative thinking.
  • Train and develop the team on technical underwriting procedures to ensure consistency and quality.

About you

  • Good people management skills, with the ability to support and develop colleagues.
  • Good knowledge and experience in insurance, ideally with London Market exposure and knowledge of Financial Lines.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Experience in using risk profiling, pricing tools, and loss models.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage priorities effectively.
