Role Overview: Underwriter – Property & Package based in Manchester, hybrid working.
Key Responsibilities:
- Underwrite insurance risks in line with the Business Plan and with personal authority to meet business objectives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders – customers, brokers, business partners and colleagues – to maximise influence.
- Shape and develop strategy, knowledge and best practice.
- Promote the department, division and company brand.
- Comply with all legal and regulatory requirements.
- Adhere to underwriting standards, instructions and good practice to minimise risk and maximise efficiency.
- Keep abreast of market dynamics and demonstrate market‑cycle awareness to operate effectively and appropriately.
- Continuously keep the right to work in the UK – sponsorship may be considered at QBE’s discretion.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Experience within the Property, Package or Property & Casualty underwriting space.
- Commercial ability to understand key profit drivers and maximise long‑term wealth for shareholders.
- Intermediate level understanding of relevant software, including Excel and other departmental tools.
- Good knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent organisational, prioritisation and interpersonal skills.
- Strong negotiating skills and an innovative underwriting approach.
