Director of Technology UK or Europe

Location: UK or Europe/ Hybrid

We have 2 exciting new roles for either a Director of Technology of the UK or Europe which has been created as part of the new EO Technology operating model. We are looking for someone to act as a strategic partner and primary interface to Insurance Division Executive members for our UK/Europe Insurance business.

The primary purpose of this role is to ensure alignment between business strategy and the Technology strategy/roadmaps, overseeing the delivery of technology-based solutions. This role will direct the strategic planning and implementation of IT solutions within specific business units to ensure business processes lead to a competitive advantage in the marketplace.

The scope of this role includes relationship management, transformation pipeline and programme/project management accountability, development and support of application solutions, as well as work requests/Business as usual. It will also undertake quality assurance and manages budget and resource allocation. This role provides exposure to all facets of technology leadership and provides an excellent platform for future growth and opportunity.

Your new role

  • Maintain the strategic view of business objectives and align IT solutions with business needs through consistent engagement with key stakeholders, including the relevant EMB member.
  • Accountable for all Run and Change activities for all applications within Business Unit
  • Collaborate within the Technology matrix, maintaining an enterprise view to deliver greatest value to your customer base, and proactively engaging and supporting practice management functions on frameworks, career development, controls, and governance.
  • Collaborate with the business to identify portfolio projects, facilitate project resources and ensure effective delivery.
  • Contribute to the development of the overall Technology Strategy for EO, as part of the CIO and Business Unit leadership teams to maximize productivity and performance.
  • Manage the end‑to‑end program of IT projects for the business, leveraging project management & business analysis resources, along with central IT services.
  • Forge strong professional and personal relationships by partnering with executive leaders, market leaders and Technology teams to champion and influence adoption of global technology solutions and services.
  • Ensuring Operational Risks and Issues are effectively managed within the portfolio, and the estate is kept secure and current.
  • Manage integration with other trains, including Data, in the delivery of transversal projects.
  • Communicate updates and /or changes in the Technology strategy to all business stakeholders.
  • Oversee the development of business cases, scoping papers and project initiation documents (Pre‑Concept/Concept) for projects within the portfolio.
  • Ensure that the department remains appropriately structured, resourced, trained and equipped to support the business and fulfil their functions.
  • Apply the necessary controls and safeguards to protect business services from disruption through inappropriate, poor quality or uncontrolled change from any source.
  • Drive and foster a culture of continuous improvement, motivation, collaboration, empowerment and entrepreneurialism within the Trains and Business Unit.
  • Assist in the design & simplification of business products with a view to minimising technology debt, leveraging technology solutions & software packages.
