The Opportunity
We are seeking a talented and driven Risk Manager to join our Risk team, with a focus on Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) and Operational Risk matters. In this role, you will play a key part in shaping our approach to ESG risk, delivering insightful analysis and supporting regulatory and management reporting. Our ideal candidate has an ESG, Sustainability or Climate Risk background, working within a financial services firm. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic, collaborative environment, gain exposure to senior stakeholders and make a meaningful impact on the wider business. Please note this is a non-IT Risk role.
Your New Role
- As part of a collaborative Risk team, you will deliver clear, impactful findings and recommendations, as the trusted Risk Business Partner for ESG.
- You will also lead process improvement initiatives across different functions, with curiosity and commercial acumen, helping to shape the business's approach to risk.
- Conduct thorough assessments of operational risks, identifying potential vulnerabilities and recommending mitigation strategies.
- Monitor, investigate and report operational risk incidents, ensuring root cause analysis is performed and corrective actions are tracked.
- Manage and provide guidance, support and mentorship to one direct report, to ensure delivery of team objectives.
- Provide second-line review and challenge for relevant business areas, including ESG, and collaborate effectively with other assurance functions to promote a unified approach.
- Provide review and challenge for Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSA's) and conduct risk reporting e.g. in relation to RCSA's, issues and incident management.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and participate in cross-functional meetings to promote a strong risk culture.
- Lead the production and reporting of the Climate Risk Dashboard and contribute to both management and regulatory ESG reporting.
- Facilitate scenario analysis related to ESG risks and conduct gap analyses for new ESG-related regulatory requirements, developing proposals to address them.
- Represent the Risk function in relevant forums, ensuring alignment with Group standards.
About You
- Significant experience working within financial services, ideally within insurance, is essential for this role.
- Extensive experience within ESG, Sustainability or Climate Risk with a sound understanding of risk management frameworks, processes and tools is essential.
- Proven ability to analyse complex data and translate it into actionable insights, with an awareness of business implications of risk decisions.
- Strong report writing and documentation skills, with good attention to detail.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence and challenge constructively.
- Confident presenter with commercial acumen and strong verbal and written communication skills, able to tailor messaging to different audiences.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook), risk systems and data visualisation tools.
- Ability to lead and mentor team members, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
