Line 2 Risk and Compliance Manager, providing independent oversight and challenge of, and support to, QBE's Bermuda based entities: QBE Capital Limited and QBE Capital (Global) Limited. Reporting to the Head of Risk and Compliance - QBE Capital, the role holder will play a critical role in the implementation of QBE's Risk Management Strategy and Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Framework. Remit will include core Line 2 ERM, Compliance Management and Regulatory Affairs and Change Management responsibilities, requiring interaction with a breadth of senior stakeholders.
Your New Role
Within this role you'll partner with QBE Capital's leadership, provide oversight and offer expert advice on key risks, compliance and regulatory matters. You'll model our QBE DNA (values) to drive continuous improvement in risk maturity, and champion a transparent, positive risk and compliance culture that strengthens QBE Capital's strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with QBE Capital business leaders and employees to effectively implement QBE's Risk Management Strategy and Enterprise Risk Management Framework
- Provide independent oversight and challenge on the efficacy of Line 1 risk management practices and processes, identifying deficiencies and drive resolution
- Conduct Deep-dives, targeted assurance reviews and advisory exercises across each of QBE's Material Risk Classes and QBE Capital's Top Risks
- Provide dedicated Line 2 support and counsel to QBE Capital's London based senior leadership
- Interaction with senior stakeholders inc. Non-Executive Directors and the Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA)
- Identify opportunities that support and strengthen QBE Capital's role as the Groups principal exposure and capital management vehicle and QBE's strategic objectives
- Continually enhance the Company's risk management maturity by critically evaluating application of core ERM and Compliance framework components, as a Class 4 Insurer
- Coordinate key Risk related regulatory filings as part of annual submission to the BMA
About You
- Extensive understanding of risk, compliance and governance frameworks, within a Risk and / or Compliance role
- Knowledge of the Bermuda regulatory regime and its application within reinsurance
- Experience working within the 3 lines of defence model, particularly in assurance or oversight functions
- Familiarity with reinsurance and risk transfer mechanisms and related financial concepts such as exposure management, capital adequacy and actuarial principles
- Demonstrated capability in change management and stakeholder engagement, driving initiatives that enhance compliance culture
- Strong communication and presentation skills, able to influence and articulate complex risk issues to senior stakeholders
