QBE Europe is recruiting a Data and AI Governance Manager to join a well-established Data COE team in our London office. QBE EO is on an ambitious journey to strengthen its Data, Analytics and AI capabilities, underpinned by enterprise‑wide data & AI governance. As the use of advanced analytics and AI grows, strong governance, accountability, and regulatory alignment are essential. The Data & AI Governance Manager plays a key role in embedding these practices across QBE Europe, supporting the delivery of the Data & AI strategy to ensure data is managed consistently, risks are controlled, and policies are applied in practice.
Working closely with business, technology, risk and Group teams, you will drive the adoption of governance processes, tools and ways of working, ensuring data is well understood, properly governed, and used responsibly. Having the right to work in the UK is a requirement for this role. QBE may consider sponsorship at its discretion.
Your new role
- Support the development and lead the execution of the Data & AI Governance strategy and roadmap, embedding governance frameworks, controls and standards across the data and AI lifecycle.
- Lead the adoption and ongoing maturity of data governance tooling (Collibra), increasing adoption across business domains and embedding consistent, scalable ways of working through targeted communications and training programmes.
- Establish and embed clear data ownership and stewardship models, defining roles, responsibilities and accountability across business and technology teams.
- Define and track governance KPIs and success metrics, delivering clear, actionable reporting and insights to senior stakeholders and governance forums.
- Drive data risk management activities, including control design, RCSA support, issue remediation and strengthening data risk awareness.
- Continuously enhance data governance frameworks, processes and standards, ensuring they remain practical, business‑aligned and deliver measurable improvements in data quality and control.
- Build strong cross‑functional relationships, partnering with business, technology, risk and data teams to drive aligned outcomes.
- Develop and deliver clear, audience‑specific communications and training, ensuring policies, standards and procedures are well understood and consistently applied.
- Chair and facilitate data governance forums, councils and working groups, driving effective decision‑making, prioritisation and issue resolution.
- Ensure compliance with enterprise and Group policies and regulatory expectations, including Data Management, AI Governance, Model Risk and End User Computing standards.
About you
- Strong experience in data governance and data management within a complex organisation; data risk experience desired.
- Proven ability to define and deliver data governance strategies, frameworks and roadmaps.
- Good understanding of data risk, controls and regulatory requirements applicable to the insurance industry.
- Experience with data governance tools (e.g. Collibra) and driving their adoption.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across business, technology and senior leadership.
- Able to translate complex concepts into simple, clear guidance for different audiences.
- Experience leading teams and building collaborative, high‑performing environments.
- Able to balance strategic thinking with hands‑on delivery, while managing multiple priorities and driving continuous improvement.
