The purpose of this role is to manage and enhance a team responsible for chasing, settling, and allocating debtor transactions within the Credit Control department. The role involves overseeing day‑to‑day operations, ensuring workflow efficiency, reducing outstanding debt, and providing leadership, direction and coordination to achieve targets and goals in credit control activities.

Responsibilities

  • Managing and leading a team and ensuring high standards of performance are met.
  • Tracking potential and future bad debtors, aged debt and cash collection issues to maximise recovery.
  • Providing 1st‑level escalation for daily problem‑solving and supporting team members on specific issues.
  • Ensuring timely and accurate collection of unsettled debt for effective credit control.
  • Generating detailed monthly reports on team achievements and areas of concern to inform decision‑making.
  • Building and maintaining good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Developing and implementing credit control strategies aligned with business goals.
  • Monitoring processes and procedures to ensure adherence to internal service standards.
  • Setting monthly collection targets and monitoring individual team members’ progress.
  • Fostering a culture of continuous improvement, accountability and collaboration within the team.

Qualifications

  • Strong stakeholder management.
  • Experience in the insurance industry is not essential.
  • Proven track record in team management with an emphasis on quality.
  • Experience in credit control, customer service and managing complex relationships.
  • Experience working with senior management.
