An opportunity has arisen for a Quantity Surveyor to join a growing commercial team supporting projects within the nuclear division. The role will involve assisting with the commercial delivery of construction contracts while also supporting the estimating function during tender stages. The successful candidate will work closely with project teams to manage project costs, support contract administration, and help ensure projects are delivered profitably and in line with contractual requirements. This role would suit someone with solid Quantity Surveying experience who is looking to further develop their commercial and estimating skills within a supportive team environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the commercial management of projects, ensuring contractual requirements are followed throughout project delivery.
- Assist with monitoring project costs, budgets, and financial performance.
- Support change control processes including Early Warnings, Risk Reduction Meetings, and Compensation Events where applicable.
- Assist with preparing interim valuations, cost reports, and final accounts in accordance with contract requirements.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of project costs, variations, and financial documentation.
- Assist in preparing and reviewing tender documents, subcontract packages, and procurement schedules.
- Support the estimating team with preparing cost estimates and tender submissions for upcoming projects.
- Liaise with internal project teams, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to support smooth project delivery.
- Contribute to internal commercial reporting and forecasting processes.
- Assist in resolving commercial queries and contractual matters during project delivery.
- Undertake site visits when required to support project progress and commercial monitoring.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
- Strong organisational skills with good attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a project team environment.
- Good understanding of construction contracts and commercial processes.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise workload effectively.
- Positive and proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop.
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
- 2–5 years’ experience working in a Quantity Surveying or Assistant Quantity Surveyor role.
- Knowledge of the NEC suite of contracts is desirable but not essential.
- Experience supporting estimating or tender preparation would be beneficial.
- Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline preferred but not essential with relevant experience.
