Role Introduction
We are seeking an ambitious and commercially minded Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our growing commercial team. Working closely with our Commercial Director and Senior Surveyors, you will support the financial and contractual management of a diverse portfolio of refurbishment and fit-out projects across London. This is a fantastic opportunity for a junior commercial professional looking to develop their career within a fast-paced, high-quality main contracting environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of initial tenders, cost estimates, and project budgets.
- Support subcontract procurement, including issuing enquiries, analyzing quotes, and preparing packages.
- Assist with monthly valuations, variations, cost-to-complete reporting, and final accounts.
- Conduct site measurements and valuations to verify progress on-site.
- Maintain accurate records and project documentation to ensure strict cost control.
- Liaise professionally with sub-contractors, site management, and clients to resolve commercial queries.
Skills and Experience
- A degree or HND in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related construction discipline (or working towards one).
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience within a construction or refurbishment environment (experience with a main contractor is highly desirable).
- Strong numerical skills, commercial awareness, and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and construction cost-management software.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and teamwork skills.
- A valid UK driving licence is beneficial.
