Role Overview
- Lead and manage the estimating function within a specialist passive fire protection contractor
- Oversee full tender lifecycle from enquiry through to handover
- Play a key role in securing and delivering profitable projects
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee all tender submissions
- Review drawings, specifications, and tender documentation
- Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates
- Price passive fire protection packages including fire stopping, intumescent coatings and fire boarding
- Develop tender strategies to maximise success rates
- Identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering options
- Liaise with clients, main contractors, and internal teams
- Ensure compliance with fire safety regulations and industry standards
- Support pre-construction and early engagement activities
- Lead tender adjudication processes
- Manage workload and priorities within the estimating team
- Mentor and develop junior estimators
- Improve estimating systems, processes, and reporting
- Support smooth project handover to delivery teams
- Attend meetings, site visits, and pre-contract discussions
- Build and maintain strong client and supply chain relationships
Requirements
- Proven experience in estimating within construction
- Strong background in passive fire protection (essential)
- Experience pricing fire stopping, compartmentation, or similar works
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Experience managing or mentoring a team (preferred)
