As the Duty Airport Manager – Christchurch, you will be responsible for leading the day-to-day oversight and management of the airport’s operational performance, optimizing safety, the highest standards of customer experience, on-time performance, and financial controls. Reporting into the Airport Manager, you will work closely with our Ground Service Providers to ensure strict compliance with Qantas policies and procedures, with a strong emphasis on operational safety.

This is a shift-based role, requiring you to work a rotational shift roster across 7 days a week, including early mornings starting as early as 4am and shifts finishing as late as 11pm.

You’ll have:

  • Extensive experience in a frontline leadership role within an operational environment.
  • Either prior experience within airport operations or a passion for this space.
  • Strong knowledge of operational safety frameworks.
  • Proven experience leading teams or managing suppliers in a customer-facing environment.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to confidently engage, debate, and facilitate meetings.
  • A data-driven mindset, with a passion for analysing trends and solving complex issues.
  • Exceptional attention to detail to ensure high-quality outcomes.
  • A flexible, can-do attitude, capable of coaching, hands-on problem-solving, and driving actions.
  • A solid understanding of below-wing or ramp operations is beneficial.
  • Experience working in a heavily regulated environment is beneficial.
