About the Role: The Clinical Nurse Manager will be a Registered Nurse responsible for leading, managing, and being accountable for the clinical oversight of individual care packages. This role requires active involvement in ensuring clinical excellence, staff training and competency, and direct support to both clients and staff, including on-site visits and hands-on guidance. Flexibility to work outside of normal office hours is required when client or service needs dictate. This position reports operationally to the Operations Director, with professional accountability to the Chief Nurse.

The Clinical Nurse Manager will help ensure that services are aligned to the Care Quality Commission’s Single Assessment Framework (SAF), reflecting the “We statements” and evidence categories that define what good care looks like. They will also contribute to maintaining high-quality standards and achieving compliance and performance targets as the organisation grows.

Responsibilities:

  • Hold clinical accountability for assigned packages of care, ensuring high standards of delivery, clinical safety, and personalised support.
  • Conduct regular visits to clients’ homes to assess clinical needs, support care delivery, and mentor staff.
  • Work hands-on alongside Healthcare Assistants and Package Nurses, demonstrating best clinical practice and role-modelling compassionate, professional care.
  • Train, supervise, and assess the competency of staff in delegated clinical tasks, ensuring each team member is fully prepared and confident in their role.
  • Develop, review, and evaluate individualised care plans and risk assessments in collaboration with clients and families.
  • Ensure referrals are reviewed, assessed, and actioned appropriately in conjunction with the Registered Manager.
  • Provide clinical leadership and direction to staff teams, fostering a culture of excellence, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Be responsible for overseeing the delegation and monitoring of clinical tasks to support staff, ensuring compliance and maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Actively contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of community care services in partnership with the Operations Director and Chief Nurse.
  • Participate in on-call and out-of-hours support, including responding to emergencies or urgent client needs.
  • Assist in the investigation of clinical incidents or complaints when delegated by the Chief Nurse.
  • Contribute to service debriefs following critical incidents or challenging situations.
  • Promote interdisciplinary collaboration and communication across all stakeholders involved in client care.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse with current and valid NMC registration.
  • Post-registration experience at Band 7 or equivalent level.
  • Clinical expertise in managing complex physical health needs, learning disabilities, and/or mental health in a homecare setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in training and assessing staff competencies in clinical procedures.
  • Proven ability to work independently in the community setting, including completing home visits and providing direct care when required.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage empathetically with clients and families.
  • Sound understanding of the CQC Single Assessment Framework, regulatory requirements, and clinical governance.
  • Evidence of continued professional development and knowledge of current NMC codes of practice.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly to client homes and service locations as required.
  • Flexibility to occasionally work outside of standard office hours, including evenings or weekends, when service needs arise.
