About the role: Supporting and assisting in the maintenance and continuation of day-to-day responsibilities of the IT Operations Team, working within the team to follow guidance from senior staff. Supporting and maintaining various aspects of technical operations of the business to ensure the smooth functioning of internal systems and infrastructure. Assisting day-to-day tasks related to security, hardware maintenance, software support, and both internal and external support services. Collaborate with other teams and team members to address technical issues and support business operations, whilst dedicating time to both work-based learning and study for the apprenticeship qualification. Works under the guidance of the Technology Operations Manager EMEA.
Responsibilities:
- Provide support for both internal and external users, responding to enquiries and resolving technical issues.
- Provide technical support and assistance on internal infrastructure, hardware, and software.
- Collaborate with your colleagues to resolve a range of SOC generated alerts.
- Assist in the configuration, development life cycle, and maintenance of approved internal software.
- Troubleshoot and help avoid downtime on both the internal network, and internal website.
- Document IT processes, procedures, and troubleshooting guides to help maintain an efficient team and an organised company.
- Participate in projects by contributing to the planning, testing, and implementation phases.
- Stay up to date on the latest cyber security and information technology news and trends to enhance technical capability for both you and your peers.
You will need the following skills:
- Basic understanding of computer systems, networks and cyber security concepts.
- Familiarity with operating systems, such as Windows and Linux.
- Awareness of common cyber security threats (e.g., phishing, malware, ransomware).
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve basic IT issues.
- Basic proficiency in using Microsoft Suite & IT management tools.
- Clear communication, both written and verbal.
- Attention to detail.
Additionally, the following experience would be beneficial:
- Additional certifications in IT (e.g., CompTIA IT Fundamentals, BCS Level 3 Certificate in IT).
- Evidence of self-study, such as completion of online courses (e.g., through platforms like Coursera, Udemy, or Cyber Discovery).
- Understanding of basic networking principles (e.g., IP Addressing, DNS, Firewalls).
- Exposure to ethical hacking tools or cyber security software (e.g., Wireshark, Metasploit).
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Okta, Salesforce).
Entry requirements:
- 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject.
- GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above).
- Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject.
You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme. If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications. Working hours: Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm (1 hour lunch break).
