Highland Fuels is an independent, employee-driven energy supplier founded in Inverness in 1957, providing fuel, heating oil, and lubricants across Scotland and beyond. With 11 depots and a fleet of over 45 tankers, they serve domestic, commercial, agricultural, and marine sectors.

About the role

We currently have a full‑time opportunity for an apprentice to join our busy team in Inverness. This is an ideal entry‑level role for someone looking to start a career in accounts/finance – full training and support will be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Become a super user on our CDS system – CODAS – where you will monitor tickets coming into the credit held holding page, analyse the incoming tickets and create, update and maintain customer accounts.
  • Act as the first response to incoming queries into the credit control inbox via Microsoft Outlook, triaging and escalating when necessary.
  • Speak with customers in a friendly and professional way, including when accounts are overdue or at/over their credit limit.
  • Download credit applications, convert them to Adobe PDFs and upload them to CODAS.
  • Create payment plans for customers and run weekly reports in Microsoft Excel to check accounts and direct debits are up to date.
  • Create and format documents on Microsoft Word.
  • Monitor stock levels and reorder essential supplies as required.

  • Interest in working with numbers and finance.
  • Good keyboard skills and be comfortable using computer systems.
  • Be able to prioritise tasks during busy work periods.
  • Friendly, confident telephone manner.

Salary £24,350 per annum

Working hours Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm
