The Software Apprentice will support the delivery, maintenance and improvement of our Transport Management Systems (TMS), fleet tracking tools and customer information services across the group. They will assist with day-to-day system support, help the business resolve issues, and contribute to continuous improvement activities. This role is ideal for someone early in their IT/systems career who is analytically minded, eager to learn, and keen to develop knowledge of transport operations and business systems.
What’s involved?
- Provide 1st and 2nd line support for transport management systems and supporting applications
- Troubleshoot system issues and escalate more complex problems to senior analysts
- Assist in maintaining data integrity, including basic data checks, updates and validation
- Assist with team workshops focused on system and process improvements, including preparing materials, gathering insights, and capturing actions
- Support the analysis of existing business processes to identify simplification or automation opportunities
- Help document processes, system changes and user guides
- Contribute to system improvement or implementation activities as part of the project framework
- Work with IT colleagues on small-scale hardware, software or integration tasks
