We are seeking a meticulous and knowledgeable HR Compliance Specialist to ensure our HR policies, practices, and programs comply with applicable labour laws and internal standards. You will be the first point of contact for our customers, providing high-quality, customer-focused service while continuously seeking improvements. As the People Compliance Specialist, you will support all compliance matters related to right to work, immigration, disclosure, BPSS checks, and Ofsted requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide advice and guidance to the People team and the business on legislative changes, supporting training and briefings as needed.
- Audit internal HR processes, documentation, and systems to identify and address compliance gaps.
- Work closely with your manager to ensure adherence to legal requirements for Ofsted, disclosure, BPSS checks, right to work, immigration, and related administrative processes, supported by regular reporting and monitoring.
- Collaborate proactively with the PS team to ensure RTW checks are correctly carried out for sponsored workers and others with immigration status before they start work, extend contracts, or switch visa categories.
- Lead visa application processes, including issuing Certificates of Sponsorship (CoS), and keep managers and applicants updated.
- Verify Employer Checking Service (ECS) checks, ensure Positive Verification Notice expiry dates are recorded, and escalate Negative Verification Notices as necessary.
- Monitor ongoing compliance, including: Right to Work, Immigration & UK legislation compliance, ensuring accurate input of relevant data on HR systems.
- Future visa expiries, tracking and following up proactively.
- BPSS compliance for employees accessing government data.
- Correct disclosure levels.
Your Experience/Skills:
- Proven experience working within a fast-paced People team environment.
- Knowledge of UK immigration legislation, Points Based System, Sponsorship, and Right to Work rules, with a willingness to learn.
- Understanding of compliance processes, including Ofsted, GDPR, and employment laws.
- Ability to work independently and develop tracking and monitoring methods.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially intermediate Excel skills.
- CIPD Level 3 or equivalent HR qualification/experience (desirable).
