Do you have experience within the Careers Guidance & Employability sector? Are you keen to work with our Higher Education Students (many of whom are international students) to help guide & place them into employment? With your qualified knowledge & experience of the employability sector along with having good IT skills ideally including the ability to navigate different online learning platforms, we have the perfect opportunity for you!
About our role: The focus for our Careers Advisor role is to enhance our graduate outcomes and student experience. As Careers Advisor, you will help current students and graduates achieve their career and employability goals, enabling them to make informed decisions about their future. You will be required to develop and maintain a good knowledge of the graduate labour market and key employability trends in different industries, so you can best support students and graduates.
Our position will also be responsible for supporting the Career Service's media content aimed at helping students navigate their career paths, find job opportunities, and develop essential career skills. The ideal candidate will have a passion for career development and an understanding of social media trends and strategies.
Here’s some of what’s involved:
- Act as an initial point of contact and provide first line support for all enquiries to the Careers Service - whether in person or via email - from students, alumni, employers, and faculty.
- Deliver high-quality bespoke career guidance appointments to students and graduates to allow them to make informed decisions about their future.
- Create and deliver workshops and group sessions (such as induction/class drop-ins) that are relevant to the scope of this role and the promotion of the Service to the student population and faculty members.
- Encourage students to attend workshops and/or a 1:1 appointment with a Careers Advisor based on their careers/employability requirement, managing the booking system to ensure workshops and appointments are resourced effectively.
- Actively develop knowledge of current careers and employability information and trends, and contribute to the updating and production of printed and online resources, under the guidance of the Careers Advisor Team Leader.
- Advertise and promote opportunities available to students in relation to employers and employability including voluntary, work experience, graduate jobs, etc. via monthly newsletter, targeted emails, etc.
- Deliver specific projects and activities related to careers and employability that enhance the work of the Careers and Employability Service and the student experience.
