Supporting Students in Higher Education

Location: Birmingham

Contract: Permanent

Hybrid Working

Hours: Monday–Friday (8:30–5pm, 9–5:30pm, or 9:30–6pm)

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Deliver welfare services through appointments, workshops, and events
  • Advise on accommodation, funding, health, and learning support
  • Act as part of the safeguarding team, assessing risks and making referrals
  • Signpost students to external agencies for specialist support
  • Provide emergency assistance for students in immediate distress

What We’re Looking For

  • A calm, reassuring presence with excellent communication skills
  • Experience supporting individuals with welfare or wellbeing needs
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, mental health, and inclusion practices
  • Ability to guide colleagues on sensitive student issues
  • Ideally, experience in Higher Education (but not essential)
  • Knowledge of child protection, adult at risk, Prevent legislation, housing, and benefits would be a bonus.
