We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated First-Line IT Support Technician Apprentice to join our team as part of the Digital & AI Support Level 3 apprenticeship. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to start their career in IT and digital support while developing modern, in-demand skills. In this role, you will act as the first point of contact for customers requiring IT and digital support. With structured training and on-the-job learning, you will support users across a range of digital tools, SaaS applications, Microsoft 365, and emerging AI technologies, including Microsoft Copilot. You will learn how to diagnose and resolve common technical issues, support customer success, manage digital information securely, and help users improve productivity through modern workplace technologies. Alongside technical skills, you’ll develop strong communication, documentation, and customer service skills, ensuring users receive a positive and professional support experience. This apprenticeship is ideal for someone who is eager to learn, enjoys helping people, and wants to build a long-term career in digital support, IT services, and AI-enabled workplaces.
Responsibilities:
- Act as the initial point of contact for clients reporting technical issues via phone, email, or ticketing systems.
- Diagnose and resolve common technical issues relating to hardware (PCs, laptops, printers), operating systems (Windows, macOS), and software applications (including Microsoft 365 / Office).
- Assist with basic user administration tasks, such as setting up new user accounts, password resets, and managing security group access within Active Directory and Microsoft 365.
- Accurately log support requests, actions, and resolutions within the ticketing system and contribute to internal knowledge base articles.
- Assist with the preparation, installation, and deployment of new hardware and software for clients.
- Provide a professional, friendly, and patient approach at all times, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
Entry requirements:
- 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject.
- GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above).
- Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship in a similar subject.
- If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
Desirable skills:
- Some experience or knowledge of hardware, networking, software & security, and ICT administration.
The successful candidate will:
- Have a genuine interest in IT and technology.
- Be enthusiastic and eager to learn.
- Communicate clearly and confidently with customers.
- Be well organised with good attention to detail.
- Show motivation, a positive attitude, and a willingness to develop technical skills.
- Have a full UK driving licence.
Working hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
