Q3D Studios is a small team of creative professionals with over 20 years of experience providing 3D visualisation services to the Motorsport and Automotive industries. Past projects include providing content for the launch and marketing of the McLaren W1 and the ongoing development of racetrack replicas for a top F1 team. Our team is always chasing innovation and efficiency, pushing the boundaries of creative technology.
Due to new, exciting projects we have an open opportunity for an artist specialising in using Unreal Engine 5 to produce high fidelity CG renders and animations. You will be involved in producing high profile marketing content for industry leading brands, showcasing new supercar models.
Hybrid working options can be discussed once established within the team and familiar with how we work but the majority of the time, you would be expected to work at our offices in Cliddesden. The offices are just outside of central Basingstoke, which is well connected to the Surrey, Berkshire and Hampshire areas by train. Cycle to work options available.
What you’ll be doing:
- Processing automotive CAD models using Unreal Engine and external 3D software. This may include UV mapping, texturing and solving topology issues.
- Designing and producing detailed and realistic environments for showcasing luxury vehicles. This includes creating shaders, building 3D props as well as both natural and architectural features.
- Developing our Unreal Engine pipelines, exploring and implementing new technologies to enhance the efficiency and quality of project completion.
- Producing exciting visual effects and styles to complement Automotive marketing briefs.
- Lighting, directing and animating shots for both stills and animated sequences.
- Assembling variant sets for controlling car specs/configurations.
Your skills and experience:
- A high level of experience in UE5 is essential. This ideally includes proficiency with more technical features like blueprints, Niagara, timeline animation, variant managers, material development, rigging and optimisation tools.
- High level artistic skills, understanding composition, colour, lighting etc.
- A solid understanding of 3D modelling, with proficiency in at least one 3D software (3Ds Max, SideFX Houdini, Blender).
- A good understanding of texturing and UV Mapping, with experience in software like Substance Painter / Designer and RizomUV.
- An ability to direct cinematography and animation that has creative flair, is well-paced and engaging.
- Familiarity with movie render queue and graph.
- Experience with SideFX Houdini or other procedural software is beneficial.
- Experience with editing and colour grading in DaVinci Resolve is beneficial.
