The Sr. Wi-Fi Engineer is responsible for Integration and Performance Testing of clients deployed Wi-Fi Gateways, extenders, home security devices and various other managed Wi-Fi clients. This includes the development and execution of test strategies and test plans. The candidate must be able to understand customer requirements and possess the ability to create test cases for these requirements, as well as follow existing test plans and meet testing and release schedules.
Work with the product managers and development engineers to define and document product and feature functionality and requirements. Work closely with other QA, software and product engineers to create, maintain and evolve test plans and automation to drive Wi-Fi testing. Actively participate in issue triage and troubleshooting. Clearly document processes used. Ensure effective communications with peers and management.
Qualifications/Skills/Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- 5+ years of technical experience directly working with Wi-Fi / RF in computer architecture and data communications.
- Experience with Wireless technology testing which includes Wireless APs, Routers, Wireless extenders and Wireless standards (802.11b/g/n/ac/ax).
- Knowledge of real-world wireless environments.
- Experience working with TCP/IP, UDP, IPv4/IPv6 addressing, Ethernet, DHCP, DNS, ICMP, ARP, NAT, Bridging, Switching.
- Familiarity with industry standard Wi-Fi test tools like Veriwave, IXIA Chariot and packet debuggers like Wireshark, Omnipeek and Savius.
- Technical background in secondary home networking technologies such as Bluetooth, Zigbee, MoCA, and Ethernet in a DOCSIS environment.
- Familiarity with RF chambers Octoscope, Lindgren etc.
- Comfortable in some scripting language of choice.
- Must be able to work independently.
- Strong background in designing or extending existing test frameworks.
- Excellent debugging skills and experience troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of UNIX-based systems and command-line tools for analysis and automation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Understanding of and experience with the full product development lifecycle, including functional and technical specifications, product use cases, user stories, implementation, QA processes, deployment and maintenance.
- Thrive in a collaborative environment and can clearly communicate while confidently driving multiple projects across many teams.
- Excellent communication skills, ability to lead the projects and present them to SLT.
