Role and Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Manufacturing Engineers as part of the Trim and Final area providing guidance, support, and mentorship.
  • Lean process planning and improvements, cost reduction & elimination of waste (NVAs) to improve competitiveness.
  • VSM analysis to assess the efficiency & effectiveness of current operations & ideate new future state.
  • Study the ergonomics & eliminate the professional hazard for workmen & improve productivity.
  • Process improvement, Poka yoke, cycle time & rework reduction.
  • Identify opportunities in Labor Productivity, automation, standardization & lead time reduction.
  • Time study using observations, PMTS tools & Multimodel line balancing to determine manpower requirements.
  • Interact within team for integrated solutions to meet guidelines, customer quality and timeline expectations.
  • Infer inputs from customer cross functional teams and implement requisite change requirements.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, cost analyses & capacity planning to support new product introductions & process improvements.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing efficiency, productivity, and quality.
  • Ensure compliance with safety & regulatory standards, identifying & mitigating potential risks in the manufacturing process.
  • Evaluate and work on utilization for equipment, tools, and technologies to optimize production capabilities and improve overall efficiency.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to resolve any manufacturing issues or bottlenecks in Trim and Final operations.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, innovation, and collaboration within the manufacturing engineering team.
  • Utilize 2D/3D CAD (AutoCAD) to design efficient workstations, material flow paths, and floor layouts.

Knowledge, Abilities & Experience

  • Proven experience in the automotive industry Industrial engineering with a focus on Trim and Final operations.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team.
  • Knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes, standards & quality assurance practices.
  • Proficiency in Time study (MOST/MTM/MODAPTS), OEE calculation, Improvements - MUDA & MURI Analysis.
  • Excellent understanding of Lean principles, Capacity calculations, Ergonomic standards, Takt time & Cycle time calculations, Line balancing & vehicle build sequence.
  • Understanding process documents - Sequence of steps (SOS), Standard operating procedure (SOP), PFMEA and control plans.
  • Ability to provide solutions to manufacturing & productivity problems.
  • Proficiency in utilizing Autocad/Catia/Pro E software and manufacturing tools.
  • Results-oriented mindset with a continuous improvement mindset.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • B Tech in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
