Based in Telford, Shropshire, we work with a long-established client base that includes leading chartered surveying firms and a number of blue-chip organisations across the UK. Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit an experienced Approved Electrician to join our team.
The role
You will be responsible for carrying out electrical installation, maintenance, testing and inspection works across commercial and industrial environments. This is a varied, site-based role requiring strong technical ability, a professional approach, and a commitment to safety and quality.
Key responsibilities
- Install, maintain and modify electrical systems in commercial and industrial settings
- Install and maintain lighting and ring main systems
- Carry out installation and maintenance of external street lighting
- Perform emergency lighting testing and certification
- Complete Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) and EIC certification in accordance with BS7671
- Test and inspect electrical installations in accordance with BS7671
- Diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs
- Complete work orders and accurately record materials used
- Document completed jobs using company-provided IT equipment
- Participate in the emergency call-out rota when required
Hours & working pattern
This is a full-time, Monday to Friday role, working approximately 40 hours per week. The working day typically starts at 7:00am, with all travel time counted as paid working time. There is opportunity for authorised overtime, paid at enhanced rates as and when available. The company also operates an early finish on Fridays (normally 2:00pm) as a discretionary flexible working benefit, subject to operational requirements.

Place of work
Site-based work at client locations, with site visits as required. Works administered from Unit B4, Halesfield 5, Telford, Shropshire, TF7 4QJ. No requirement to work outside the UK for periods exceeding one month.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar Approved Electrician role
- City & Guilds Level 3 (or equivalent)
- Approved Electrician status
- Proficient and certified in testing and inspection
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems and components
- Ability to read technical drawings and specifications
- Competent with hand and power tools
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Full UK driving licence
- Willingness to undertake further training as required (DBS checks and a restrictive covenant apply.)
