As they scale their technology platforms and services, they are looking for a Senior Engineer / Director of Engineering to help drive the next phase of innovation.
This is a unique hybrid role blending deep technical expertise with strategic leadership. You’ll play a key role in shaping the technical direction of the platform, driving engineering excellence, and building a high-performing team. You will work closely with the CTO, product teams, and other stakeholders to deliver robust, scalable, and secure solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the architecture and delivery of core platform components and services.
- Lead and mentor a growing engineering team.
- Set coding and architectural standards, ensuring best practices in testing, security, and scalability.
- Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to prioritise and deliver roadmap features.
- Drive the transition to more modern infrastructure and technologies (e.g., microservices, containers, cloud-native).
- Champion engineering culture and continuous improvement across the organisation.
- Evaluate and integrate third-party technologies where appropriate.
- Ensure technical compliance with FCA regulations and internal security policies.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, ideally within fintech or regulated environments.
- 3+ years in a leadership role (e.g., Senior Engineer, Tech Lead, Head of Engineering, or Director level).
- Deep knowledge of modern backend technologies and cloud platforms.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD, infrastructure as code, DevOps best practices.
- Experience with database systems and distributed systems.
- Passionate about clean code, scalable systems, and delivering customer value.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
