A Private Equity business seeks a payments subject matter expert to drive execution of embedded payments initiatives across our portfolio of B2B software companies. This is a hands-on, high-impact role supporting multiple portfolio companies as they launch and scale payment capabilities, working directly with C-suite teams to turn strategic opportunity into live products generating revenue.
The candidate will act as the central leader for payments, owning end-to-end delivery across pilot companies, leveraging expertise from GTM, Pricing & product management teams, whilst building the frameworks and playbooks to scale these capabilities more broadly.

Key Responsibilities
Operational Excellence
- Own the day-to-day delivery of payment initiatives across portfolio companies including but not limited to:
- Cultivating and developing relationships with 3rd party payment vendors
- Go-to-market strategy
- Pricing and monetisation design
- Delivering product integration
- Driving up end customer adoption
- Coordinating with internal functional experts across product management, GTM, pricing etc.
Playbook & IP Development
- Build out this new capability with reusable frameworks including:
- Upfront assessment methodologies for accessing payment opportunities within a portfolio company
- Programme development so that there is visibility of each portfolio project, its status, and key metrics.
- Developing a library of use cases that map to packaged payment plays that we continue to iterate on
- Playbooks for each stakeholder in the payment process (GTM, engineering, pricing, customer support)
Portfolio coordination
- Build a pipeline of portfolio company opportunities and progress them programmatically through:
- Build a community of Payment champions in each fund that can advocate for the programme
- Build programmatic governance including roll out plan, communications, status tracking
- Work with C-Suite leaders within the portfolio to sell the programme, its benefits, and get portfolio companies signed up.
Candidate Profile
- Previous experience working in the payments industry, preferably for a payments vendor in a professional services capacity with exposure to both GTM as well as the technical side of the product.
- Builder β has built new capabilities from scratch, someone who thrives in ambiguity and can pivot from strategy to execution; solving problems, unblocking issues and iterating on lessons learned.
- Has experience running multiple stream programmes with complex stakeholder groups
- Strong communicator who is comfortable influencing C-suite executives without authority and driving urgency across organisations they donβt control whilst remaining focused on the outcomes.
- Previous experience in Private Equity and/or consulting preferred.
